Additional units have been added to LM086 and LM090 to take them both up to the maximum investment limit of 3 units. I do enjoy watching a share steadily increase and adding to the position as it does. Hopefully these both work out as well as my trade in III did (LM055), that will rocket the portfolio upwards.
Speaking of which, the price of gold is now above $4,000 per ounce for the first time ever. I remember desperately willing it to go above $440 back in around 2004 when I'd made a very silly bet on the long-defunct "BetOnMarkets" website.
For days I got excited every time I got a text, thinking it was an automated notification telling me that gold had reached that all-important price. But I was serially disappointed... gold never got there in the time frame I'd used and I lost the whole stake. It was a very valuable lesson - don't bet too much on any one idea. I likely lost half my total bank on that one silly wager.
Whilst hindsight is wonderful, I'd have made 10x my money if I had just bought gold directly and held it for these last 20+ years. Although if I think along those lines I would've made 10,000+x my money if I'd bought bitcoin when I first heard about it back in the day. Of course I would've had to hold it through multiple surges and crashes - and made sure to back it up properly, which was never likely to happen in reality.
A couple of days after maxing out LM086 and LM090 I then opened up new positions LM091 and LM092. The first is a commodity-related company which from what I can gather is very much related to gold and silver. It's already benefited from the rising gold price to swell 16% as per the table above. I'll be keeping a close eye on commodity prices and dumping it should it start to fall off. The second one was also a new 52 week high but in a completely different sector.
I do like to diversify by spreading my positions over different sectors, no more that one in each.
A couple of weeks after those two I added LM093, another one year high and then yesterday I used the last of the available cash in my broker account to re-visit a share that I'd previously lost money on back in 2019. That one (LM094) isn't present in the table above but I'll add it in the next update.
That is unless, of course, it hasn't already been cut from the portfolio. It's immediately lost 13% so it might not survive for long.
